Ever try to find a pattern for what you want and nothing out there works right? Whether you don’t like the stitches, it’s too labor intensive, or just doesn’t work with the yarn you have. I had that issue recently as I worked on getting some reusable cotton face scrubbies made for the site. I found a great pattern that was heart shaped here .. https://www.simplynotable.com/2015/sweet-somethings/ But, finding a round one I liked was not happening. So what do I do? Make one myself. I know there are a million patterns for round scrubbies out there, but I wasn’t feeling any of them. I wanted something that was easy, quick, and had some texture to it. Once I had it planned and a couple made I timed myself and it takes around 6 minutes each to make. I wanted something I could make and have in the shop quick and also could put down easy if the mini me needed something.
These are perfect in size for makeup removal or for use with your other skincare products like toner or facewashes. Make a few for gifts for that special someone with their favorite soap, bubble bath, lotion, and maybe some spa socks for a great spa day set! Keep some close in your own bathroom to use when needed.
I would label this as an intermediate beginner, due to the front post double crochet (fpdc). I use US crochet terms, see below for abbreviations and a how to for the fpdc. Using a 4.00mm (G) hook and light worsted/DK weight yarn (#3) they turned out 3.5″ wide. I have used both 100% cotton and a cotton/polyester blend yarn and personally have no preference there. Yarn used in the picture is Caron: Cotton Ripple Cakes (100% cotton), which is easy to work with, but I have also use Premier Home (cotton blend) yarn with great results too. Keep in mind they will be bigger or smaller depending on yarn weigh, hook size, and your tension. I usually crochet a little loose, for an idea of my sizing.
*Note: I do not receive any monetary compensation for links I provide or materials suggested, they are simply examples of what I used.
